Shannon Atkins moved to New York City 10 years ago from Australia and since then her talent and passion for dance has seen her travel throughout the US, UK, Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico and Australia regularly judging and setting award winning choreography and company repertoire. She is a regular faculty member at both Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in New York City. She has taught on famous conventions all over the world including “Move It” and “Can You Dance” in the UK and “Australian Dance Festival”. She also tours the US with the “Wild Dance Convention” and “Are You Ready”. Shannon had taught at some of the most prestigious dance studios in the world including The Joffrey Ballet School in NYC, Base Studios and Pineapple Studios in London. She also teaches at The Institute of American Musical Theatre and was a resident choreographer for Manhanttanville College. Prior to her worldwide career Shannon had a successful dance school and was a faculty member at the Queensland Conservatorium musical theatre instructing and choreographing musicals.
Shannon has performed in musicals including 42nd street and Oklahoma along with choreographing broadway style shows in Australia including High School Musical 2 and Fiddler on the Roof. She has appeared on the lifetime tv show hit “Dance Moms” and choreographed the opening for New York Fashion week Spring 2023. Shannon’s true passion lies in educating dancers of all ages and inspiring them not only in the classroom but in life. Her class has a very commercial feel to it and will have you living your best dance life in an environment that is upbeat and full of support. You can expect to explore different ways to express your artistry and movement quality along with pushing yourself technically in a class with Shannon – she encourages uniqueness in a dancer and want to you to get lost in the storytelling aspect of the dance.
