Rhapsody James is a native New Yorker and graduate of Purchase College. With over twenty years of experience within the dance community she continues to be one of the world’s most sought after choreographers and instructors to date. Her choreography credits include, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Ariana Grande, Puff Daddy & Trey Songz. Along with teaching all over the world from Japan, Italy, Finland and Canada. She is also the founder of the leading Commercial Dance training program, Motivating Excellence. So not only has she curated tour and live performances for some of the industry’s top artists, but she is also responsible for training some of the industry’s top dancers.
In 2018, Rhapsody was also honored at the American Dance Festival as a Wondrous Woman for her contribution to the Commercial Dance industry. Rhapsody remains on the Huffpost list of 20 top Black Female Choreographers. Her creative mind and undeniable talent have garnered her the distinction of gracing the cover of Dance Teacher Magazines, where she was quoted to be the “Queen of Street Jazz”. In 2012 she became an honoree and recipient of the Ladies Get Down Award, acknowledging woman in Hip Hop.
With no plans of stopping anytime soon, Rhapsody continues to break boundaries as the Artistic Director of her hybrid dance company Rhapsody En Dance (R.ED) and with her TV Episodic & Immersive show Sin Sisters of Darkness, a dark tale about a sisterhood that survives on the blood of sin and is built on the dark triggers of the female psyche.
