Peggy Holmes has directed the two most successful TINKER BELL films in the Fairies Franchise for Walt Disney Studios. Both creatively and financially, her movies resonated around the world, with international theatrical box office far exceeding studio projections. She has recently joined Skydance Animation as the director for the feature film, Luck.
She is, at the core, a director who finds the emotion first in a story. With her background as a choreographer and dancer she relishes bringing that emotion to life through animated characters that make us laugh, cry and dance.
As one of the few female directors in Animation, Peggy successfully worked with the creative teams at Disney bringing her voice to life with films that centered around female characters. Having not grown up in the world of animation, she utilized the Pixar/Disney concept of the brain trust to her advantage pushing her story-telling and cinematic style and growing as an artist with each film.
Whether in live action or animation, directing or choreographing Peggy has written, designed and created memorable moments with universal appeal. She has also choreographed sequences that have experienced the highest form of flattery, being spoofed on SNL. For example, the “on top of the piano” Michelle Pfeiffer scene in The Fabulous Baker Boys. In addition, she has been a critical creative voice on two iconic films that have reached cult status, Hocus Pocus and Newsies. Both films continue to entertain generations of film, television, and theater goers. She has also worked extensively in television, winning an Emmy Award for her work on Fame LA.
