Antonio Martinez is an aerial arts instructor and choreographer that has worked all over the globe. He currently teaches at Studio School in Los Angeles, CA as the institutes’ first aerial professor. Antonio created their aerial syllabus, which has proven to prepare dancers for the growing demand of aerial arts in the commercial dance industry.
Antonio first studied Jazz, Ballet, and Musical Theatre Dance at Oklahoma City University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Dance Degree and Spanish Language Degree. He started training in aerial arts at Canada’s prestigious Toronto School of Circus Arts as well as Hollywood Aerial Arts. He later began teaching Aerial Technique and Choreography for Royal Caribbean International Cruise Line and NCL Entertainment and teaching Aerial Arts for Aeriform Arts and The University of Central Oklahoma.
Antonio’s work has recently been featured in America’s Got Talent, Ford Motor Company, MGM Hotel & Casino, The Americana, Dodge Motor Company, Verizon’s Lo Mejor De Mi Campaign, Strong Productions, Bellagio’s New Years Eve shows with Infiniti Creative, The Jeff Probst Show, Drake: Live In Concert, Mary Kay industrials, and aerial choreography and instruction to singer Sangeeta Kaur as well as Shaun T of Beachbody fitness. His success as a leading aerial choreographer and performer in the industry has been a product of his diverse dance career. Antonio has worked on TV, film, music videos, stage, tours, industrials, & commercials performing all styles of dance. His recent credits include Penny Dreadful: City of Angeles, The Masked Singer, the Billboard Music Awards with Taylor Swift, New Girl, Old Navy, The Ellen Show, Gilmore Girls, Jane The Virgin, Speechless, and Dancing With The Stars. Some stage credits include La La Land Live at the Hollywood Bowl, MAC Cosmetics Industrial, the international tour of West Side Story, & the national tour of Dance To The Movies.
Antonio’s understanding of dance movement and his teaching methods allow students of all levels and ages to feel welcome and inspired by this art form. His teaching style is similar to his choreography- strong, powerful, and exciting, while always keeping you focused on clean technique and safety. Antonio stresses the importance of you being equally strong as you are flexible and creates a learning environment that celebrates both physical abilities. His love for all music inspires class exercises and choreography that enhance your sense of musicality and he will build up your ability to hone strength, flexibility, and choreography assimilation while creating an unforgettable learning and acrobatic dance experience.
