Alvin de Castro is an international choreographer and dancer based in Los Angeles. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Alvin has over seventeen years of teaching experience including former residencies at the prestigious Sydney Dance Company, Brent Street and an extensive list of Australia’s best professional studios. Outside of Australia, Alvin has taught at conventions across Asia and also at Movement Lifestyle, Millennium Dance Complex Las Vegas and IDA Hollywood. Through his industry experience, Alvin is a qualified educator, teaching BFA dance at Studio School (Los Angeles) and Wesley Institute (Sydney). Alvin is current faculty at The Nexxt Move dance convention based in Los Angeles.
Alvin’s choreography credits include SYTYCD Australia, Dance Boss Australia, Daddy Yankee, Steve Aoki and Disney. Other Choreography credits include Justice Crew (Australia’s Got Talent winners) and G.E.M. (X.X.X Live World Tour). Performance credits include Miguel, Dua Lipa, G-Eazy, Dillon Francis, Deorro and X-Factor Australia, Additionally Alvin also worked has toured as a dancer for Johnny Ruffo, winner of Dancing with the Stars, and Stan Walker winner of Australian Idol.
Alvin’s career in dance began within the community so he is passionate about bringing performance opportunities to the underdog and aspiring dancers – because he was that guy. In 2005, he founded Beatphonik, one of Australia’s most successful dance crews. This formed a solid foundation to his core teaching values such as style, originality, execution, technique, versatility, self expression, resilience and teamwork. The end result produces industry ready dancers made testament by former members of Beatphonik who have toured or performed with Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, J Balvin, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Cardi B, Magic Mike Live, Kylie Minogue, Jessie J, Christina Aguilera and more!
