Joshua has over two decades of international teaching experience. His Passion for all styles of dance led him to NYC where he became part of the Broadway Dance Center faculty at age 22. Later moving to LA, Joshua also joined the faculty at THE EDGE Performing Arts Center. Since then he has brought his talents to students worldwide, having taught in over 25 countries. He teaches at big festivals such as the World Dance Movement in Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. He has taught for multiple years at Tanec Bez Hranic in the Czech Republic, FairPlay Dance Camp in Poland, MOVEMENT in Israel, and AbruzzOnStage in Italy. Also giving masterclasses at open studios such as OmarsLab in Milan, Studio Harmonic in Paris, SieteOcho in Mexico City, and BDC Tokyo as well as numerous colleges and studios throughout the United States.
From Irish Step dance to contemporary and street jazz, Joshua has had the honor to perform works by Desmond Richardson, Lar Lubovitch, Nacho Duato, Jiri Kylian, Mandy Moore and Dee Caspary to name a few. He can be seen on stage and in music videos with artists such as KESHA, Betty Who, Billy Porter, FKA Twigs, Rachel Platten, Darwin Deez, Rihanna, and Eminem. You might also have seen him featured in the MTV VMA’s, James Corden, Good Morning America, the Today Show, and Dick Clark’s ‘Rock’n New Year’s Eve.’ On the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Bachelorette. With a vast range of jobs and information from these experiences and choreographers, Joshua’s teaching style continues to grow and evolve much like dance itself.
Add in over 10 years of teaching and training in the fitness space he likes to bring a background of why and how the body is making dance possible. ‘Dance is art but the body is science’ is a key phrase for him. He also wants you to find longevity with movement. Starting with a warm-up with conversations about placement, energy, and breath which leads to across the floor while trying to implement the foundations we had been discussing. Never a cookie-cutter class, Joshua stears the lesson towards where he sees would be most beneficial. Combinations can swing from jazz-funk to contemporary and everything in between. What really matters to him is that the class leaves feeling stronger, mentally and physically than when we all arrived.
