Jason Williams’s teaching career began at an early age in Wilmington, NC at his home studio. He moved on to work with university level dance teams, was faculty on Jump Dance Convention, assisted top industry choreographers such as Marguerite Derricks and has taught in Los Angeles at Edge Performing Arts Center, Millenium Dance Complex and Playground LA. Jason is the founder and director of The Jason Williams Experience, a master class in cultivating stardom. Jason has enjoyed weekly bringing The Jason Williams Experience to Steps on Broadway in New York City as well as teaching around the country and internationally. Jason is currently on faculty with Adrenaline Dance Convention.
Jason’s dance career has been limitless. He has performed on film, television and many live stages. Early in his career, he was a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance Season 2. Since then, he has been in over a dozen feature films such as High School Musical, Fame (2009), Dirty Dancing (2017). Jason has also danced in numerous awards shows including Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards as well as danced in the opening number of The Oscars. Jason has shared the stage with many major music artists such as Lady Gaga, Paula Abdul, Shania Twain, and Miley Cyrus. Jason also toured as a backup dancer for Mary J. Blige. Jason has danced in a number of television shows like Dancing with the Stars, Dear White People, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Pose and RuPaul’s Drag Race. He has also had the pleasure to choreograph for the major NBA dance teams, New York City Knicks and the Laker Girls. Most recently, Jason both choreographed and starred in Season 2 of Bridge and Tunnel directed by Ed Burns.
Jason has had the privilege to learn from industry pioneers Frank Hatchett, Doug Caldwell, Kenny Ortega and Marguerite Derricks. These experiences have influenced Jason’s teaching style to have an old school approach with a new age flare. Jason’s choreography is intricate yet grounded. His musical and soulful approach to movement gives you the freedom to lead with authenticity and to develop your artistry. When Jason is leading a classroom, he encourages you to find confidence and your stardom.
