JAMES HADLEY Biography
James has over 25 years of experience in creating and directing large-scale events, contemporary circus productions, and in professional theatre. He recently directed Cirque du Soleil’s first ever Christmas show, ‘Twas the Night Before… which played to sold out crowds in Chicago and New York City. He directed Disney’s International Tour: Marvel Universe Live – Age of Heroes. This action packed adventure brings together Spiderman, The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy. It includes dynamic aerial performances and breathtaking stunts as well as immersive video projections. James created and directed the Closing Ceremony for The National Olympic Committee’s first-ever European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan: an enormous multi-media performance with over 3,000 artists and musical acts including John Newman and Clean Bandit. This event was seen by over 500 million people worldwide. As Cirque du Soleil’s Senior Artistic Director for North America, James was responsible for the artistic quality and evolution of world-renowned shows including Mystère, La Nouba, “O”, The Beatles’ LOVE, Ka, Iris and Zumanity. James also directed the Cirque du Soleil content in many large-scale promotional events including The Grammy Awards, The Tonight Show, Live with Kelly and Michael, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Today Show. James was the Artistic Director for Cirque du Soleil’s premiere arena show, DELIRIUM: a fusion of techno music, dance, acrobatics and spectacular visuals on an enormous scale. James has created contemporary circus productions that have toured throughout South America. These visually stunning, arena shows feature spectacular acts from all over the world. Mr. Hadley began his career with The National Ballet of Canada and went on to perform in multiple Broadway shows including Chicago, Cats, A Chorus Line, The Red Shoes, Thou Shalt Not and Bells are Ringing
