Her uniquely non-linear path in the business has allowed for a flexibility to conceptualize dynamic experiences from global brands to television, film and live events. Cherice is currently based in Los Angeles, California, and was most recently the associate creative director on NBC’s comedy competition series Bring the Funny.
In February 2019, Cherice was one of the six invited finalists to create and present work at the illustrious Dancebreak Broadway Showcase, and was subsequently awarded a residency at DanceLab NYC. In 2017, she choreographed a new ballet Eudaemonia for Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, which premiered at the Soraya in Los Angeles followed by a run at the Joyce Theater in New York City.
Ms Barton’s creative projects include work with Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry, George Lucas, Julie Taymor, Franco Dragone, Printz Board, Jeremy Scott and Vincent Paterson. Credits also include the Grammy Awards, America’s Got Talent, Dragone Productions Le Rêve, Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark on Broadway, Lucasfilm Animation, American Ballet Theater, Dance Camera West and the Juilliard School, among others.
Cherice is also an educator, frequently invited to speak and teach masterclasses at various institutions, globally. In 2016 she joined forces with her sister Charissa for the launch of Axis Connect, a non-profit, bi-coastal educational platform for emerging and professional dancers. Led by the Barton Sisters, Axis Connect bridges the gap between the institution and professional dance industry by providing the experience, connections, skills and exposure necessary for career success not only in concert and commercial dance, but in the entertainment industry as a whole.
Cherice’s performance career has spanned 20 years in over 30 countries across six continents.
