With a background in dance and choreography, Carla Kama’s ability to create world-class shows and performances comes from a professional career spanning three decades. Carla began her career in Los Angeles as a professional dancer as a teenager. At age 19, she was picked out of over 1000 hopefuls to be the sixth member of the original “Fly Girls” on the Emmy winning television series In Living Color. She danced in many projects ranging from live shows, film, television and for music artists such as Prince, No Doubt, Paula Abdul, Smashing Pumpkins, and Ricky Martin to name a few. Carla is an original and founding member of The Pussycat Dolls and part of their early history at the famous Viper Room on Sunset Blvd.
Carla’s talent for choreography and keen eye for musical staging led her to transition into the role of choreographer. Carla was the supervising choreographer for Britney Spears “Circus” World Tour. She has created choreography for Britney Spears “Femme Fatale” World Tour, Ricky Martin “Mas” Tour as well as projects for Prince, Carmen Electra, Paulina Rubio, Jane’s Addiction, Kid Rock, & ZZ Top. Her choreography can also be seen in the sexy burlesque scenes in HBO’s Carnivale, and Carmen Electra’s Aerobic Striptease. Carla is credited with the musical staging and sizzling dance work showcased in Mandalay Bay’s STORM and she has also worked in the musical theater world, choreographing the European touring productions of GREASE and HAIR ‘The Musical’.
As a creative director, Carla has worked closely with world renowned director and producer, Jamie King, on many projects including Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque Du Soleil, Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour by Cirque Du Soleil, Madonna x Quavo Eurovision Performance, Madonna NYC Pride concert, Nicki Minaj x Juice Wrld Tour, QVIVA Live starring Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony, Rihanna “Loud” World Tour, Rihanna “The Last Girl On Earth” World Tour, BIGBANG “X” Tour, The Spice Girls “The Return of The Spice Girls” World Tour, Avril Lavigne “Best Damn Tour” World Tour, and many award show performances with the music industry’s top artists and bands over the last 15 years. Carla worked as creative consultant on the Michael Jackson’s iconic Hologram Performance on the 2014 Billboard Music Awards as well as a creative producer on Madonna “Madame X” World Tour and season 3 of THE X FACTOR, USA. Carla was honored to work as creative director for Steven Tyler’s performance on the American Idol Finale of season 14.
Currently, Carla is a supervising producer for King Productions Inc., overseeing projects from development and ideation through execution phase and finally to project premiere. She continues to work with Jamie King in many capacities including as an associate director, creative producer, and supervising choreographer. As creative director for live entertainment, Carla also collaborates with AOA, one of the world’s leaders in themed entertainment, production, and creation.
