Candace Brown is a highly respected educator and creative with over 15 years of teaching experience, known for her ability to train, mentor, and inspire dancers across all stages of their journey. As faculty at renowned studios on both coasts—including Millennium Dance Complex, the original Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio, Movement Lifestyle, Edge PAC, Broadway Dance Center, EXPG NY, and Peridance—Candace has had the privilege of shaping some of today’s most promising artists. She has also taught and assisted on major conventions such as Revel, Monsters of Hip Hop, Pulse, Jump, Adrenaline, and Intrigue, and has traveled internationally to teach in Spain, Italy, Australia, Africa, Paris, Amsterdam, Japan, Brazil, and beyond. Her collegiate experience includes serving as an instructor and choreographer at Barnard University, PACE University, and Manhattanville College in New York City.
As a performer and choreographer, Candace has built an expansive career that spans stage, television, and commercial work. She has danced for iconic artists including Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Jason Mraz, Janelle Monáe, Jennifer Lopez, and more. Her credits include assisting and performing on Dancing with the Stars, X-Factor, the Billboard Music Awards, the VMAs, Good Morning America, Apple TV’s Dickinson, and BET’s Black Girls Rock. Her choreography and assistant credits also include The Wiz on Broadway, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Hudson, Gwen Stefani, the Brooklynettes, Kids Bop, and more.
In the classroom, Candace fosters a positive, supportive, and focused environment rooted in discipline, intention, and growth. She is firm yet encouraging, pushing dancers to work hard, dig deeper, and discover their individual artistic voice while building genuine connection to the movement and to one another. As the director and choreographer of Soul Project Dance Company, Candace continues to expand her creative vision and elevate her artistry, and she is excited to keep sharing her journey with the global dance community.
