Vincent Paterson is a world-renowned director and choreographer whose career spans just about every genre of the entertainment industry including film, theatre, Broadway, concert tours, opera, music videos, television and commercials. Most recently he directed and choreographed a compelling new version of the musical Evita at the renowned Ronacher Theater in Vienna. He is co-writing and will direct a new play for a Swedish Theater Collective to tour Europe and has been invited to direct an original musical for the inauguration of Holland’s new Lighttheatre Vincent directed the critically acclaimed opera MANON with soprano Anna Netrebko, conducted by Placido Domingo which played in Los Angeles, Berlin and Valencia. His direction of Anna Netrebko: THE WOMAN, THE VOICE received a nomination for Best Television Arts Program at the Montreaux Film Festival. The DVD is the top selling classical DVD in European history. Vincent directed and choreographed Berlin’s first original production of the musical CABARET at Bar Jeder-Vernunft now in its 11th season. It is the longest running play in Berlin’s history.
As a director and choreographer, Vincent created iconic works for Madonna and Michael Jackson including Madonna’s BLOND AMBITION TOUR which he directed and choreographed as well as choreographing her videos “EXPRESS YOURSELF” and “VOGUE”. For Michael Jackson, with whom he worked for over 15 years, Vincent created the BAD TOUR as well as the video, “SMOOTH CRIMINAL” and multiple other Jackson music videos and live performances, from the Grammy Awards to the Super Bowl Halftime Show. His work with Michael Jackson and Madonna alone has amassed over 500,000,000 hits on YouTube Vincent directed and choreographed the musical sequences in Lars Von Trier’s, DANCER IN THE DARK. Other films he choreographed include THE BIRDCAGE for director Mike Nichols, EVITA for director Alan Parker, andHOOK for Steven Spielberg. He choreographed London’s West End production of LENNY for director Sir Peter Hall and LA Opera’s GRAND DUCHESS for director Garry Marshall. As well as directing commercials, he has choreographed several hundred commercials, many for famed director Joe Pytka but also for directors from Sweden, England and Australia. Swedish Television recently produced a documentary, THE MAN BEHIND THE THRONE, about Vincent’s life and career that has garnered international awards, has been seen in 17 countries and was the featured film at the Bologna International Documentary Film Festival.
