Nicole Kirkland is a professional dancer, choreographer and instructor in Los Angeles, California. Originally from the Bay Area, she received her training in studios, dance companies, and conventions. She began dancing at the age of 2, choreographing at the age of 16, and at the age of 20 she was already a working choreographer in the industry.
Nicole’s choreography talent is apparent in both community and industry dance. On the industry side, Nicole has choreographed for Prince, Iggy Azalea, Gwen Stefani, Daddy Yankee, Nicole Scherzinger, Kehlani, Hyolyn, NBC World of Dance, Melii, Ceelo Green & more.. On the community side, Nicole has choreographed for world-renowned hip hop companies The Lab, GRV, Gravy Babies & immaBEAST. She also travels both nationally and internationally, teaching classes and setting pieces for studios and school dance teams.
Nicole’s diverse style of choreography stems from her extensive training background. She teaches anything from jazz funk and heels, to urban and pop styled hip hop. Nicole focuses on character. She stresses the importance of performance and creating a story, no matter the style of movement. She teaches you to not just “act” like a character you are portraying, but to actually “be” the character. Nicole believes in teaching you something new every time you take her class so you leave feeling inspired.
