Dreya Weber Biography

Dreya Weber was the first graduate of the Indianapolis Performing Arts High School where she majored in Dance and Theater Arts. Before her freshman year in High School, her family moved to Mexico City where she was invited to compete for the National Hurdling team, training at the Olympic training center CEDOM for two years. Returning to the US, she competed for Hunter College in diving and gymnastics, and in her final season was honored with the New York State Scholar/Athlete Award and All-American status as a Gymnast. Dreya coached the girls’ competitive gymnastic team at the Calhoun School in New York City for seven years culminating in two undefeated seasons. Dreya performed flying trapeze with the Espana’s for Circus America and the Moscow State Circus. Dreya and her brother, David, founded the Summer flying trapeze program at the International Gymnastic Training Center in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, which Dreya directed and staffed for nine years.

Dreya has choreographed aerials extensively in the Pop world. She conceived and choreographed Pink’s songs “Glitter in the Air” and “Try” and performed in the 2010 and 2014 Grammy Awards respectively. She designed and choreographed the aerials for Pink’s Billboard Awards performance & music video “Just Like Fire”, her VMA performance “Sober”, as well as Pink and daughter Willow’s aerial duet for the 2021 Billboard awards.

“Dreya is one of the best things that happened to my career, hands down…She took away my fear of heights, challenged me in a way I didn’t know was possible and gave me a love of this craft that has shaped my touring experience with the world.” – Pink

Dreya was Associate Choreographer for Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” and appeared in the documentary film of the same title. She designed and choreographed aerials for all of Pink’s record-breaking international tours as well as for Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Madonna, Cher, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Britney Spears, Leona Lewis and Kylie Minogue. Her aerial choreography has been featured on the Billboards, MTV VMA’s, BET Awards, AMA’s, the Kids Choice Awards and the televised Inaugural Ball for President Obama. Current shows: Magic Mike Live in Las Vegas, London and the upcoming North American tour, and Teatro ZinZanni Chicago.

The daughter and granddaughter of engineers, Dreya continues to explore ways to use traditional aerial apparatus to innovate visual tapestries. The 2016 Billboard Awards premiered a deconstructed pocket watch & fob conceived and designed by Dreya as an aerial apparatus for the singer Pink.

Dreya has developed a curriculum for teaching aerial acrobatics to students of all ages, running sold-out aerial acrobatic camps in Los Angeles, Seattle and the Gold Coast of Australia. She has created aerial arts workshops for the Physical Theater department at LSU, the theater department at Michigan Tech and designed workshops that combine stunt flying with aerial arts with renown stunt coordinator, Keir Beck (Hacksaw Ridge, Mad Max: Fury Road) and Tammy Zarb of Industry Aerial Arts at AP8 in Australia.

Dreya co-directed and wrote the feature film Raven’s Touch in which she plays the title role. She directed the film version of Frank Ferrante’s Groucho, currently broadcasting nationally on PBS. She produced and starred in The Gymnast, The Aerialist, and A Marine Story, honored with 48 awards at festivals in the US and internationally including seven ‘Best Actress’ awards. She conceived, wrote and directed the web series Caesar’s World (Funny or Die).

Dreya has been featured in all of the P90X workout series and has collaborated extensively with photographer Lois Greenfield, appearing in all of her books Airborne, Moving Still and Breaking Bounds. Dreya wrote Gangsters In Love, an original musical, cirque, prohibition era romp, produced by Teatro ZinZanni in Seattle. She has starred in seven productions for Teatro ZinZanni in San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle, as well as Palazzo, Amsterdam.

Dreya directed multiple stage productions of An Evening with Groucho starring Frank Ferrante, which performed a 34-city tour in Australia and extended runs at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Milwaukee Repertory Theater and the Walnut Street Theatre. She directed Quixotic Entertainment’s hit cabaret show “Sensatia” for the Feana theater in Miami.

Dreya is currently developing a solo show “Hexen” in which three characters explore the dark history of their ancestral roots in Trier, Germany. Part historical account, part legacy, part imaginative fancy, “Hexen” explores the ways society has demonized women through “witch” persecution. It celebrates the determination of life with storytelling, original songs, audience interaction and aerial dance. Theater acting credits include As You Like It – LAWSC, A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings – CTG, played Vivien Leigh in Austin Pendleton’s Orson’s Shadow (West Coast Premiere, winner Garland, Ovation, and LADCC awards), Comedy Of Errors (NY Shakespeare Festival), Childhood (with Glenn Close), Inadmissible Evidence (Roundabout), and Macbeth (Circle in the Square).
