Called "prolific" in The New Yorker, CHASE BROCK is a 26-year old choreographer forging a unique path by working simultaneously and successfully in concert dance (more than 20 dances for The Chase Brock Experience, the Brooklyn-based contemporary dance company he founded in 2006), theater (the world premiere of Yank!, Mark Lamos's revival of A Little Night Music and Jeff Calhoun's revival of Shenandoah), opera (Bartlett Sher's production of the Gounod opera Roméo et Juliette for the Salzburg Festival, starring Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón), television (Broadway Under the Stars for CBS and the Joan As Police Woman music video Eternal Flame), film (Clear Blue Tuesday), music (Evil Monkey Man: David Yazbek and His Warmest Regards for Lincoln Center's American Songbook series) and, now, video gaming (Dance on Broadway for the Nintendo Wii). Brock's work has been praised in The New York Times for its "stylized showbiz mayhem," and called "exhilarating" in Back Stage and "a swirl of stylistic energy and serious precision" in Dance Spirit magazine. Brock was also noted by New York magazine for his ability to "mix a witty Broadway sensibility with rock-and-roll zest," with iDanz Newswire simply declaring, "if there is a pop medium for modern dance, Chase Brock has found it."
